AMS was founded as Auto Marketing Services on April 19th, 1982 as a partnership. The company engaged in the sales and installation of auto accessories to car dealerships. The business established itself by aiding car dealers in the “marketing” of their automobiles.

The marketing plan encouraged the auto dealers to order their vehicles without the various options such as stereos, cruise control and other auto accessories. The benefits included; less holding costs for the dealerships, more flexibility for the customers’ unique needs and the availability for quality “local” service.

Our customer base grew as the retail public heard about our quality service and products. In 1983, to accommodate more customers, AMS opened a store at 929 Stewart Street in Madison. Later, in order to assist the public in recognizing the nature of our business, we referred to our company as Madison’s Auto Music Specialists, or again “AMS”.

In 1985, Auto Marketing Services incorporated as Auto Marketing, Inc. By 1987 AMS began to invest in two new future opportunities – cellular technology and competition car audio. While expanding that same year, AMS was confronted with a fire. Even though the repairs to the store took several months, our staff found ways to continue day-to-day business, doing installations on location, or working out of what remained of our warehouse.

In August of 1990, AMS moved to 5380 King James Way in Fitchburg. The facility more than doubled our size. As our growth continued, we expanded again in that same building, gaining space and benefitting from the Verona Road/Hwy. 151 exposure. On September 1st, 2001 we opened our first satellite location for cellular in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Our second satellite location for cellular opened in McFarland in March of 2004, followed by a store in Cottage Grove that same year. We also started a new Home Theatre division on July 1st, 2004. In 2008, AMS expanded once again, opening another cellular location, this one in Yorkville, Illinois.

Our success story has been simple – SPECIALIZE IN DELIGHTING EACH CUSTOMER! It is our belief that each of our customers will not only return for future purchases, but will also refer others to our organization. Therefore, our future success will be measured by how we routinely “thrill” versus satisfy our clients’ needs.
